What is a Nebelung?
Medium-sized, elegant cat with long, silky blue-gray coat and green eyes. Longhaired version of Russian Blue.
Nebelung history and origins
Developed in the 1980s from longhaired Russian Blue-type cats. Name means 'creature of the mist' in German. Combines Russian Blue personality with elegant long coat. TICA recognized.
Nebelung appearance and size
Typically 3.2-5 kg and 25-33 cm at the shoulder — published as one range rather than separately for males and females.
Nebelung temperament and personality
Generally described as gentle, quiet, shy, playful, reserved and loyal.

No breed-specific hereditary condition is well documented for the Nebelung. It is a young breed (developed in the 1980s) with a small gene pool descended largely from Russian Blues. TICA's own breed page states the Nebelung is 'considered overall a healthy, but still relatively new breed.' General sources note that any condition a Russian Blue could have is theoretically possible here too, but that is a theoretical extension, not a documented finding in the Nebelung itself, so it is not listed as a risk.
