Medium-sized spotted or marbled cat with a misty appearance to its coat. Developed specifically as an indoor companion cat.
Developed in Australia starting in 1976 by Dr. Truda Straede. Created by crossing Burmese, Abyssinian, and domestic shorthairs. Originally called Spotted Mist, renamed Australian Mist in 1998.
Typically 3.6-6.8 kg and 23-28 cm at the shoulder — published as one range rather than separately for males and females.
Generally described as lively, social, fun-loving, relaxed, affectionate and tolerant.
