Medium-sized, rustic French water spaniel with distinctive curly, water-resistant coat, topknot, and gentle, clownish expression. Specialized for wetland game retrieval with excellent swimming abilities.
Pont Audemer Spaniel history and origins
Developed in 19th century Normandy, France by crossing local water spaniels with Irish Water Spaniels and potentially Poodles for waterfowl hunting in marshlands. Numbers dwindled after World War II and was revived through careful breeding.

Males typically weigh 20-25 kg and stand 52-58 cm at the shoulder; females 18-22 kg and 50-55 cm.
