Ancient Italian breed developed in the coastal Maremma region of Tuscany for hunting wild boar and hare. Descended from ancient Roman hunting hounds and perfected by local hunters over generations for tenacity and skill in challenging terrain. Recognized by the FCI and Italian Kennel Club.
